When a new series drops on Netflix, it’s kind of like a challenge.
Can you hold down a job, eat three meals a day, and get through all eight episodes within 24 hours?
Challenge accepted.
If you’re prone to a solid binge session then you’re not alone, because Netflix has revealed some pretty interesting stats.
TIME below:
…the company revealed this week that 8.4 million users have watched an entire TV show season within 24 hours of its release, a habit the streaming service calls “binge racing”…
[They] said binge racing is a “sport” for television superfans…
“There’s a unique satisfaction that comes from being the first to finish a story — whether it’s the final page of a book or the last, climactic moments of your favorite [sic] TV show,” Brian Wright, Netflix’s vice president for original series, said in a statement.
Canada, the US and Denmark top the list of countries that ‘binge race’, but this stat is my favourite of the lot:
…the most binge raced show varied slightly by country. Canada, which had the highest percentage of binge racers, watched Trailer Park Boys the fastest.
They do love their zol up in Canada, don’t they?
How about a little binge watching here at home ahead of Halloween? Showmax have a hella creepy new offering called Channel Zero, an anthology series where each season is based on a ‘creepypasta’ – a term for horror-related legends passed around the internet.
Get a load of this, horror fans:
Jislaaik.
If you have DStv and haven’t yet added Showmax then get on that – it’s FREE.
You can also sign up for a free 14-day trial HERE, which gives you plenty of time to get started on your binge racing.
Good luck out there.
