25 years ago Michelle and Barack Obama tied the knot. To wish her well, the former president of the USA sent his wife a super mushy video message on Tuesday.
But he didn’t send it to her phone, via email or even in a Snapchat.
Rather, the recording screened during the Pennsylvania Conference for Women in Philadelphia while Michelle and Shonda Rhimes were on stage, reports TIME:
Appearing on a big screen, Obama first apologized [sic] for “crashing” the conference before launching into a loving tribute that brought tears to his wife’s eyes — and color to her cheeks.
“I had to crash this party because today we have been married for 25 years,” Obama said. “The idea that you would put up with me for a quarter of a century is a remarkable testament to what a saintly, wonderful, patient person you are.”
Watch it in full, below:
Apparently, the former first lady teared up as her husband praised her “strength, grace, determination and honesty” and was blushing by the time the video ended.
She then turned to Rhimes and the crowd and joked:
“I better get home.”
Here’s the scene:
Michelle’s wishes were a lot more low-key. She sent her “best friend” a happy anniversary message on Instagram, sharing a photo from their Chicago wedding on October 3, 1992:
Damn, I miss them.
