When Hugh Hefner passed on Wednesday at the age of 91, not only did he leave behind his Playboy empire, but he left behind a 31-year-old wife, two exes and four kids.
From his first two marriages, Hefner produced one daughter and three sons, and it’s clear they have each found their own way in life.
One has managed to stay out of the spotlight, another has written a book about zombies, and only two have chosen to follow in Hugh’s Playboy footsteps.
Let’s take a look at what we know about each, youngest to oldest, from Business Insider:
Cooper Hefner — 26 years old
The youngest of the lot, Cooper is the chief creative officer of Playboy Enterprises, the founder and former CEO of the upstart media company Hop, and a member of the California State Military Reserve.
He is also considered the new prince of the Playboy mansion.
Born on September 4, 1991, Cooper’s mother is Kimberly Conrad, a former “Playmate of the Year.”
Cooper stayed in the Playboy mansion while growing up, but moved next door after his parents split in 1998 so that he and his brother could live between the two houses:
“When my parents were together, it was very tame,” he told the New York Post earlier this year. “The parties turned into black-tie events, I believe at my mom’s request.”
“When Dad was having more ‘eventful’ parties in the summer and on Halloween, security would go on babysitting watch to make sure my brother and I were kept in the house,” he told the Post.

Marston Hefner — 27 years old
Marston is Cooper’s older brother. He too grew up in the Playboy mansion for the first eight years of his life, but definitely hasn’t gone down the same road as his brother:
In 2012, Marston was arrested on suspicion of attacking his girlfriend, Claire Sinclair, a Playboy Playmate. He was sentenced to one year in a domestic-violence program. The court also ordered him to stay away from Sinclair for three years.
But other than that, Marston’s unverified Twitter account reveals he’s a “writer and gamer”. Under the name Marston Glenn, he apparently wrote a book about zombies, called “Bleed.”
He also really, really enjoys backgammon, the team posing for the picture above.
David Hefner — 62 years old
Not much is known about Hugh’s eldest son, David. The second child from his first marriage to Mildred Williams, David has stayed out of the spotlight.
Some reports have suggested he owns a computer-consulting company, and others have said he is a computer-graphics specialist for independent films – but not much else is known.
Pictured above, right, with his sister and father, it seems backgammon is a family affair.
Christie Hefner — 64 years old
The eldest, Christie, along with half-brother Cooper, is very involved in the family enterprise, having worked at Playboy for over 30 years and serving as its CEO for 20.
However, she stepped down in 2009, saying the election of President Barack Obama inspired her to do more charitable work:
She established the Hugh M. First Amendment Award and helped raise $30 million for CORE Chicago, the first outpatient facility for AIDS. She has delivered various talks on criminal justice and prevention of drug abuse, and she has been named one of Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women in the World multiple times.
Here she is with her father at her Brandeis University graduation:
And that’s that.
Not quite as exciting as Hefner, are they?
