I have no doubt that your Instagram feed is a thing of beauty, snapped using your iPhone and racking up the likes, but how about you take things to the next level?

If you really want to impress the bar has been set, this year seeing the 10th annual iPhone Photography Awards handed out.

The awards showcase the very best pictures taken on an iPhone – duh – and we have picked seven that stand out from the rest.

Photographer of the Year 2017: Dock Worker

“I shot this photo on an early morning photo walk around the docks in Jakarta in April 2016. These were the hands of a dock worker who was taking a break. I was struck by the texture created by the accumulated dirt on his hands.”

1st prize: The America I Know – Juan Carlos

Castañeda shot this photo on an iPhone 7 Plus at the height of the protests at Standing Rock in North Dakota. “The height of the storm and the march was captured with the photo that was selected for first place. Everyone there stood until it was physically impossible to continue,” he said.

1st prize: News/events – Samuel Nacar

Nacar took this iPhone photo as thousands of migrants and refugees were evicted from “the Jungle” camp in France.

1st prize: People – Dina Alfasi

This photo was taken by Alfasi on his two hour daily commute in Israel.

1st prize: Portrait – Gabriel Ribeiro

This picture was taken of Ribeiro’s cousin in Brazil. “My main goal was to capture the depth that a look can achieve, especially when it comes to children,” Ribeiro said. “I used the Lightroom Mobile app along with Snapseed to get the final result.”

1st prize: Still Life – David Hayes

This still life, called “Over”, was taken by Ohio-based photographer David Hayes. “I’ve been working in the still life genre for the last several years and like styling vignettes such as this one. I had recently seen several other images that had used a smoking candle and wanted to see what I could do with that concept,” he said.

1st prize: Trees – Magali Chesnel

Chesnel took this beautiful tree photo near Geneva in Switzerland, in the little village of Versoix.

Some inspiration for those sunset pics from Signal Hill, or early morning shots from atop Table Mountain.

We all know the iPhone 8 is supposed to drop some time in the next two weeks, so keep your eyes out for that one and you might be in with a chance.
