The plethora of professional sporting activities that took place this past weekend produced tension and terror usually reserved for really good thriller movies. All sorts of emotions would have been felt around the world, but I think we’ll all have a laugh at how Warnie should be having a walk-off with Derek Zoolander.
Anyone who has been paying some attention to the IPL, and to the Rajasthan Royals in particular, may have noticed how really really good-looking 41 year old Shane Warne is appearing.
I personally assumed it was surgery, because it’s rather obvious. But he has chosen to deny it via Twitter:
Questions re facelift/Botox etc are absolute rubbish. I am 86kg. Lost 7kg and (am) close to being the fittest I have ever been.
Fitness and being healthy is now a daily habit I feel great and never been happier in my life.
New Estee Lauder moisturisers for my skin have made a big difference.
If you say so mate. It must be that killer moisturiser then.
Saturday’s FA Cup semi final derby between Manchester United and Manchester City was a thriller of note. Filled with the drama and missed opportunities, Yaya Toure decided the final 1-0 scoreline in favour of City.
Scholes managed to get himself a trademark red card for a silly tackle, but Fergie said it was just a normal “red-mist moment” for the ginger United midfielder:
We’ve seen over his career Paul has had unbelievable moments – he’s one of the greatest players this club has ever had.
But he has his red-mist moments – he caught the boy on the thigh.
What he probably means is that Scholesy experienced ginger rage, which is not uncommon when gingers are upset.
Another tense football match took place at the Emirates stadium in north London yesterday afternoon. The game looked sure to end in a draw, but burst into life deep into injury time after a neck injury to Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.
First Robin van Persie slotted home a spot-kick for the Gunners 10 minutes in, making it 1-0 Arsenal, falsely luring their fans into what must have seemed like the certain hope of victory. But not three minutes later, Emmanuel Eboue brought that dream crashing down with a silly push on Lucas inside the box.
The inevitable happened and Liverpool were awarded a penalty. Dirk Kuyt duly converted and secured the draw to make Arsenal’s dream of a Premier League title that little bit more intangible.
