Marketing can be a really beautiful thing. It’s also a touch difficult to remain original within the fast paced environment of radvertising these days. So, when someone gets it right, like launching a “jou ma se burger” for instance, one just has to give it the old customary head-nod and one-corner-of-the-mouth-curling smile it so rightly deserves.
We obviously don’t need to remind you about the controversy advocate Nehemiah Ballem caused when he explained to Judge Lee Bozalek: “Jou ma se poes, fuck you.”
Advocate Ballem still remains under investigation by the Cape Bar Council and has since been admitted to hospital after his family became concerned about his mental state.
We also don’t need to remind you that radvertising doesn’t need to cost an arm and leg – it’s just got to grab you and shout its point across like a large vuvuzela.
That’s exactly what’s happened with the “jou ma se burger” now available at Castello’s, a short wander from the Cape High Court.
It’s come courtesy of owner Rita Ransby’s idea to produce the new menu item off the controversy that the utterances caused.
It will set you back R50, but the large amount of goodness in the form of a beef burger, is laden with bacon, egg and cheese, and also includes chips.
Rita hasn’t yet made it an official menu item.
