The National Party is back, baby. Wake up and smell the freshly-opened emotional wounds, followed by a faint whiff of “too soon”. Their self-proclaimed goal is to unseat the DA in the forthcoming municipal elections. Good to see that they’ve developed a sense of humour in the wilderness of Democracy.
The former powerhouse of the apartheid regime has reinvented itself with a slightly different name and a slightly new look ahead of the local elections.
Which means that we can look forward to such delightful treats as slightly different race hatred, which was tacitly confirmed by the leader of the party, Achmat [no spice] Williams, when he said that his party believes they have “remained largely unchanged from previous incarnations.”
The base of operations for their abhorrent bigotry campaign is Goodwood, because, you know, any place with a Voortrekker Road running through it is probably good enough for your average blinked, stiff-jointed, toady-eyed, partially-fossilized perma-Nazi.
