Angelina Jolie, saviour of Africa, had to cut her trip to a Tunisian refugee camp short after a riot broke out.
Jolie, a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations’ refugee agency, UNHCR, visited the Libyan-Tunisian border recently and said that refugees had told her of their plight.
More than 400 000 people have fled across the border to neighboring countries, most of them to Tunisia.
As Jolie made her way through the crowd, the crowd began chanting, “Angelina Jolie, we want to die for you!” and clamoured for her attention.
“The people were beyond excited to see her. There were thousands of refugees screaming her name and chanting. The crowd was closing in on her and her security detail; it was intense,” a photographer for website X17 Online said.
Due to the fact that there was little security for the great-one herself, she was forced to flee to the security of a tent. As you can imagine, the people were not amused. Luckily there were 30 soldiers armed with machine guns to keep the enthusiastic crowd from getting too close.
But thanks Angie for your enthusiasm.
