The new platform, which is still currently in its design phases, will allow users to create the perfect girlfriend who will allegedly write on your Facebook wall, possibly tweet sweet nothings at you and keep your virtual happiness in mind using other social media platforms.
Cloud Girlfriend has yet to officially launch, but the site is already generating incredible interest and advising visitors to “register early to get in line.” Tasteful, indeed.
The registration process is very straight forward and appears as you log on to Cloud Girlfriend:
Step 1: Define your perfect girlfriend.
Step 2: We bring her into existence.
Step 3: Connect and interact with her publicly on your favorite social network.
Step 4: Enjoy a public long distance relationship with your perfect girl.
David Fuhriman, a co-founder for the site claimed that Cloud Girlfriend will help users acquire themselves a real girlfriend.
He is reported as saying that women who happen to see posts from a virtual girlfriend will think “someone else thinks highly enough of this person to date him, so maybe I should too.”
A similar concept was launched for Nintendo DS in Japan and proved hugely popular selling a reported 100 000 copies in the first month of its launch. So there is a market, obviously.
It’s also not clear how the new service will get around Facebook’s terms of service which don’t really allow this sort of thing.
But, one can however not avoid the humour naturally associated with such a topic, so we encourage you also read the greatest fake girlfriend story ever too.
