There were even rumours of a planned party in Cape Town at one stage, but it appears nothing more than a low key gig went down for Wills this weekend. It has emerged that his stag do took place at home on Mud Island too, reportedly on a friend’s estate in Norfolk.
We decided to run with this a little later in the day to see if any scandalous details emerged like you might expect from a party Prince Harry attends and supposedly co-organises.
But, alas, the most that we could dig up was a line uttered by a source at St James’s Palace confirming the do did go down and that,
It was an entirely private event and we don’t intend to make any further comment.
The original weekend shenanigans that included taking part in a variety of watersports in Exmouth, Devon, like racing speedboats and water-skiing, were cancelled after they were leaked to the press, so we understand.
The party was apparently attended by about 20 of the Prince’s closest friends including Thomas van Straubenzee who attended Ludgrove Prep School in Berkshire with the Prince and James Meade, whom he met at Eton.
Thomas also didn’t want to say much:
I’m very sorry but I have got to keep it a secret. I hope you understand.
Another one of Wills’ good mates from childhood, Hugh van Cutsem, was also purportedly in attendance. Once, Hugh and a few of the other van Cutsem brothers smuggled Wills quietly into the main marquee at the 1999 Cartier International polo match in Windsor’s Great Park
Wills was promptly surrounded by beautiful twenty-something models before the press realised he was even there.
So we’re quite sure it was a good party. Good show, old chaps.
