Everyone knows that there are plenty of ATM scam artists out there looking to fleece us of our money, but you don’t see something like this coming out of PE all that often.

Details of the altercation, which occurred yesterday on Rink Street, remain rather sketchy.

Depending on who you ask, the man on the receiving end of the assault is either the victim or the perpetrator.

30-year-old Chris Harding is the chap under attack, the other parties accusing him of stealing money that one of the women had withdrawn.

Harding, on the other hand, alleges he was the victim of a slick scam artist.

“She [allegedly] switched my card with hers in a matter of seconds,” the NMMU law student said…

The ensuing scuffle resulted in Harding being bitten on the forearm and scratched on the chest. He was taken to St George’s Hospital, where he received a tetanus shot, booster shot and is on a six-month anti-retroviral course as a precaution.

Harding provided his details to the reporter, hence his account above, but the other three people featured in the video refused to do so.

Police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said that a case of attempted robbery had been opened.
