South Africa’s economic and political climate is a goldmine for documentary and journalistic photographers.
But have you got the shot to go up against the rest of the world?
On March 31, BBC Culture opened the applications for their second annual photography awards. Partnering with Magnum Photos – the international photographer’s cooperative – any photographer from around the world can enter.
While the winners will be announced on July 18, they listed the award’s previous winners to give you an idea of what it takes to claim the prize.
As you can imagine, those past winners are top notch:
Palm Wine Collector, Kunene Region, Namibia by Kyle Weeks
Liquid Mountains of Lake Erie by Dave Sandford
Nilin by Cris Toala Olivares
Fire of Hatred by Asghar Khamseh
Otsuchi Future Memories by Alejandro Chaskielberg
To see more you can take a peek HERE, and also pop over to BBC Culture’s Facebook page where they will be sharing outstanding submissions throughout the competition. All winners, finalists, and juror’s picks will be digitally exhibited at the Photographers’ Gallery in London.
You think you got what it takes? Enter HERE, and maybe we will be sharing some of your work in years to come.
After all, things in South Africa are heating up.
