They may be rather nasty to each other on stage with millions watching on around the world, but when Donald and Hillary appeared at the annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner, a fund-raiser for Catholic charities they play a little nicer.
I said a little, because some blows were still landed.
Along the way Trump’s less funny jibes were booed by sections of the audience, with some saying it’s the first time that’s occurred since 1980.

As he hit his monologue’s home stretch Trump’s jokes grew darker, drawing cascading boos at a dinner intended to raise money for needy children.
Trump traded punchlines for caustic barbs aimed at Clinton’s hacked emails, calling the Democratic candidate “corrupt.”
“Hillary believes it’s vital to deceive the people by having one public policy, and a totally different policy in private,” he said.
“Here she is in public, pretending not to hate Catholics,” he said.
“I don’t know who they’re angry at, Hillary, you or I,” Trump said in an attempt to brush off the ensuing flurry of boos from New York’s elite.
