I think we can all relate to the experience of driving past a new restaurant and saying ‘I should try it out soon’, only to see the doors shut a few months later.
First off you’re probably a Capetonian if it took you a few months because that’s kinda our style, but it’s also a clear indicator of just how tough the restaurant business is, here in South Africa and around the world.
It’s hard enough creating one successful business, which is what makes the achievements of Neil Grant so impressive.
Perhaps best known for Burrata, located in the trendy Old Biscuit Mill, Neil can also boast Bocca and Constantia Uitsig’s Open Door.
It helps that he has the winner of Top Chef SA Annemarie Robertson (pictured with Neil up top) as his executive chef, who wowed those judges with some incredible culinary creations (HERE).
Neil joined 2OV in studio to discuss how his travels over the years have influenced his signature style of modern Italian cuisine, and how he’s made such a success of bringing that to the local foodie scene.
Listen up prospective restaurant owners, there’s plenty to learn.
You can listen to the Best By Burrata series on 2OV Radio Wednesdays between 2PM and 3:15PM.
