Our Top 5 Comfort Foods

Need a little bit of comfort food to make your day better? Of course you do, and we have a few suggestions you might be interested in.

When you think of comfort food, what is the first dish that comes to your mind?

Maybe it’s your dad’s crispy roast chicken, served every Sunday evening with gravy, roasted potatoes, and cauliflower and cheese sauce.

That’s mine.

Perhaps it’s the way your grandmother serves you creamy potato soup while you sit by the fire – and never forgets the croutons.

Although comfort foods are often characterised by their high caloric nature, high carbohydrate level, and simple preparation, they also have the wonderful habit of providing nostalgic or sentimental value.

Daily food-spiration website, Food and Wine, listed some of their favourite comfort foods – along with really easy recipes.

We chose our top five, all in the effort of causing en masse salivation (and if you’re not one for cooking, there’s always Burrata to satisfy your comfort-food needs.)

In true Sloane form, we’ll start with dessert:

Double-Chocolate Pudding

Multigrain Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

There’s no such thing as too much cheese, especially when it’s accompanied by tomatoes roasted over night.

Free-Form Chicken Potpie

Think luxurious chicken, stewed vegetables and flaky puff pastry. It’ll do.

Baked Four-Cheese Spaghetti

Why use macaroni when you can use spaghetti, and why use one type of cheese when you can have four?
