WATCH: 1956 Nelson Mandela TV Interview Released For The First Time [Video]

It was long believed that the first TV interview Madiba ever gave was in 1961, but now his foundation has released footage from 1956.
Black S. African atty. Nelson Mandela (C) w. wife Winnie (C) behind him) in midst of co-defendants acquitted (1957 charge) in treason trial.

If you ever need a reminder of how far the ANC has strayed under the leadership of a certain JZ, simply listen to anything Nelson had to say.

Whether back in 1956 or after his release from prison and rise to presidency in 1994, Tata’s words still carry a sense of reverence.

We’ll deal with what he had to say back in the day here, though, with the Nelson Mandela Foundation releasing what is believed to be Madiba’s first TV interview.

It’s quite brief, a snippet reportedly filmed during a break in the Rivonia Trial where Mandela faced charges of treason:

That footage above bumps this 1961 interview with Brian Widlake into second place, filmed in Johannesburg whilst Mandela was in hiding.

Sleep easy Tata.
