I’m sorry, I can’t resist…
Gimme your horse, make it real or else forget about it.
Sorry, and thanks for indulging me.
Dressage has been one of those lesser known sports that’s flown largely under the radar these Olympics, although one routine attracted much attention on social media the past day or so.
The AV Club losing their minds over the performance:
The horse, Lorenzo, got busy while guided by Spain’s Severo Jesus Jurado Lopez during the dressage competition, and it’s honestly incredible to watch, both for the “hey, that horse is dancing” factor and the fact that we’re talking about goddamn “Smooth” here. Lorenzo and Jurado Lopez prance around the court, much like Santana’s fingers on a guitar’s fretboard, and somehow, the whole thing comes off seeming almost classy…
One tweet just about sums up the vibe:
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Rodger, but Severo and Lorenzo only placed fifth.
Once again NBC, the official broadcasters, are hating on us non-Americans and limiting what we can watch here in SA. The best we can offer you for now is the same routine Severo performed at the Olympics, this footage from a competition two months ago:
