Being a parent looks like tough work, and I’m sure some peeps with kids sometimes wish an eagle would swoop down and carry their children far away.
That doesn’t make you a bad person…I think.
Over in Australia there is an abundance of wedge-tailed eagles, usually spotted roadside munching on a the bedraggled carcass of a run-over kangaroo.
You’ll also find them around Alice Spring Desert Park, where this picture was taken:
A little background on the attack from the Telegraph:
Stunned onlookers watched as the wedge-tailed eagle tried to steal the child ‘like a small animal’ at a show at Alice Springs Desert Park.
The small boy, believed to be between 6 and 8 years old, escaped with with a “superficial” gash to his face.
Staff at the park in central Australia moved in to take care of the situation and the boy was left crying…
Christine O’Connell was visiting the park and saw the incident…
She wrote on Instagram: “Not the sharpest photo but lucky just to snap it. At a nature park in Alice Springs we decided to go to a bird show the young boy in the green kept pulling his zipper up and down.
“For some reason the Wedge Tailed Eagle did not like it and instead of flying over to the log he is meant to for a photo opportunity he flew straight at the young boy and attacked him.
“The show was quickly cancelled and the boy taken off to first aid. Those talons are huge he was a very lucky young boy.”
This isn’t the first time an eagle snatching a kid has grabbed international headlines – anyone remember this video below, later shown to be a hoax?
Better luck next time parents with horrid children.
