Whilst ‘ol POTUS is soon to vacate the White House after a stressful double term at the helm, he has managed his health in check while being president.
Apparently, his favourite food is broccoli and he has even quit smoking. He exercises daily and spends time with his family. What a champ.
But all that, along with running what is currently the most powerful country in the world, means that sleep is an afterthought. While bedtime is normally between 12 and 2am, and rise and shine is around 7am, it’s Obama’s regular routine before bed that makes his short rest okay.
Going to bed and waking up at the exact same time teaches the body when to expect to sleep.
Other things that Obama does is snacking on seven salty almonds during his late night reading of briefs, skipping caffeine and alcohol, and sitting at the window unwinding from the day by processing all his thoughts.
But there are other reasons people don’t get a good night’s rest – and sometimes you don’t know why. According to Sleep Renewal:
You may just be one of the millions out there with undiagnosed obstructive sleep apnae (OSA). Although it is estimated that over 18 million have the disorder, it is suggested that 93% of men and 82% of women have never been diagnosed.
Locally, clinics such as Sleep Renewal work with you to figure out the reason behind your lack of sleep. Read all about their process HERE.
