Over In New Zealand They Smuggle Drugs Differently – Biggest Coke Bust Ever

Cocaine travels the world in many shapes and sizes, and this could be the most dazzling one yet. Full marks for creativity, zero for execution.

While we get cocaine coming into the country by pretending to be Lindt balls (HERE), New Zealand gets a fake, diamante-encrusted horse head.

Back in the day it may have been a helpful distraction for ancient Greek soldiers, but here in 2016 local authorities weren’t fooled, and refused to be naive about the situation, too.

Claiming it as one of the biggest seizures of cocaine in New Zealand history, 35 bricks (400 kilograms) of cocaine worth an estimated NZ$ 14 million (R146 million) were found in the sculpture.

Detective Senior Sergeant Colin Parmenter made a statement and said:

This is obviously an extremely large amount of cocaine, and in the past we’ve only found very small amounts of this drug.

What this find tells us though is that there is obviously a demand for it. While it’s possible that this statue may have been sent on to another country, but there’s every possibility that the cocaine was destined for the New Zealand market and we would be naïve to think otherwise.

Better luck next time smugglers, maybe you should have used a sheep head instead.
