Commercial Airliner Catches Fire Mid-Air – Manages To Make Emergency Landing – All Caught On Tape

Passengers aboard a Singapore Airlines flight had something of a mare, their flight forced into an emergency landing after an oil leak.

If you think hitting that pocket of turbulence was rough last time you were in the air think again, because these poor passengers had to endure their plane catching alight whilst they were flying high.

The right wing of a Singapore Airlines flight became engulfed in flame during an emergency landing at Changi Airport, all 241 people on board having to undergo an emergency evacuation.

An oil leak was the cause of the drama, with this below from RT:

“The pilot informed us there was a leak, and that the plane would have to turn back to Changi Airport as it did not have enough fuel for the journey,” the Straits Times cited one of the passengers as saying…

“The blaze was quite fierce and we waited for around two to three minutes before the fire engines arrived,” a witness added, while another passenger described the incident as a “near death” experience.

“Passengers disembarked through stairs and were transported to the terminal building by bus,” Singapore Airlines told Yahoo in a statement. “Passengers will be transferred to another aircraft, which is expected to depart for Milan later today.”

I guess all’s well that ends well, but I prefer my landings without flames thank you very much.
