Facebook has a wonderful habit of initiating small changes on their platform that no one really notices. Although it’s blogged about on their Newsroom site, little information actually makes its way through to the public unless it has an obvious effect.
Like this change.
I actually noticed it by mistake the other day. I was checking up on a friend and noticed they had every job they had ever done listed on their profile, just under the “Intro” section.
Basically, while you could once choose which information you wanted displayed, Facebook did a few tweaks and now your full education and employment history is shown. I just checked mine and I’m very thankful I did a clean up of all the information years ago.
Not that I really mind, I’ve had some pretty cool jobs.
If you have chosen in your privacy settings not to show this information, then it wouldn’t have changed.
Rather, Facebook is just prioritising what it shows.
So you might see something awfully tacky, like this:
My eyes!
But not to worry, you can totally edit all that. Just click on the little edit icon on the top right hand corner of the “Intro” display section and you’re good to go.
Facebook, you’re not LinkedIn.
