Today Barry Roux really brought out the big guns during his plea for leniency, shocking the courtroom by asking Oscar to remove his prosthetic legs and walk on his stumps.
A hush fell over the courtroom as Oscar made his way to the front, during which time Roux tried to illustrate how fearful Pistorius would have been for his life.
Some of what he said from News24:
Pistorius has made his way to the front of the court and is taking off his prosthetics.
He walks before the judge, the lawyers and the public and shows the court what it is like to take walk on his stumps.
“We see his humanity now,” Barry Roux says. Oscar continues to walk around, and finds rest next to Roux’s desk.
Roux: “This is the person, it’s 03:00 in the morning, he is on his stumps. He suffers from an anxiety disorder. When he was on his stumps his balance was compromised.
“He was anxious, he was frightened. This must all be seen in the context of his disability and the pervasive thinking.
“He was armed, ready to fire. His perception was fortified by the open bathroom window, the ladders, the slamming of the door. He believed that the person was an intruder and the deceased was in the bedroom.
“He fired four shots in the door with a downward trajectory, with no intent to kill.”
