There’s nothing like a little self-loathing to make someone want to shoot up a nightclub filled with people completely cool with who they are.

Just after the Orlando shooting, reports are coming in suggesting that Omar Mateen, the man who was to blame for the USA’s largest mass shooting in modern history, had gay tendencies.

Not only did Omar attend the nightclub which became his target, but he was on gay dating apps.

Some, who wish to remain anonymous, reported times he had hit on them.

We went to a few gay bars with him, and I was not out at the time, so I declined his offer.

He said, ‘Well if you were gay, you would be my type.’ I said OK and just went on with the night. It was not anything too crazy, but I take that as a pick-up line.

While they didn’t know him well, many said he was socially awkward which led to him being excluded from the scene. When attending Pulse nightclub, he would either sit quietly and have a drink, or get belligerently drunk.

I think it’s possible that he was trying to deal with his inner demons, of trying to get rid of his anger of homosexuality.

However, Mateen’s father denies he was gay, adding that if he was it wouldn’t be a motive to attack the LGBT community.
