Yesterday was the first of what should be a five day sentencing process, and under the spotlight was Oscar’s conduct as a prisoner.

Oscar spent a year at the Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre, otherwise known as Pretoria Central Prison, and taking to the stand to convince everyone how traumatic that was for him was Dr Jonathan Scholtz.

Gerrie Nel listened, sharpened his claws and went for the kill. More from EWN:

Temper tantrums, aggressive behaviour and verbal abuse are among the observations a prison doctor made in the first month of Pistorius’s sentence.

But [Nel] noted that these findings, and other behavioural concerns were not mentioned on Scholtz’ report.

“Do you know about an incident where Mr Pistorius’s prison cell was searched and illegal medicine was found?”

“No I don’t know that,” the doctor responded.

“Did he not tell you that?” Nel asked.

“No,” Scholtz said.

Nel says he will argue that Scholtz is biased.

The state has also thrown out the defence’s claim that Oscar was assaulted in prison:

[Scholtz said] “He had fear because someone came through into his section and assaulted him there, so it was possible and it actually happened.”

“Did he report it?” Nel asked.

“Yes he did,” The doctor said.

“No it’s not true,” The prosecutor resorted.
