Spending winter in Cape Town is by far the city’s best kept secret. Although it’s not without its fair share of storms, flooded roads and low temperatures that make getting out of bed the most awful thing you could think of, the plus side is that locals take over and tourists return to their homelands.
Sometimes.
There’s also an abundance of activities to get involved in, and they aren’t as physically demanding as the summer ones. Take for example Cafe Caprice’s range of winter brunches happening on the last Saturday of every month.
Each Absolut Brunch is themed, and you can expect a culinary surprise by local guest chefs – complete with delicious Absolut cocktails to complement the tasting journey throughout the day.
What a way to start a Saturday, in winter.
Here’s what the first brunch entailed:
The first brunch menu was created by Cape Town start-up, UCOOK, who presented a mouthwatering selection of baked French breads, frittata with roasted tomato, mini croissants, Absolut Vodka gazpacho, organic lamb riblets and a deconstructed chicken pie. The standard has officially been set for the upcoming brunch clubs.
Is your mouth watering as much as mine? Well, this Saturday, Cafe Caprice are having their May edition of the Absolut Brunch and the theme is Brooklyn – so expect bagels upon bagels upon bagels. And maybe even a rainbow bagel:
The #RainbowBagel was made Insta-Famous earlier on this year by Scott Rossilio, bagel artist from The Bagel Store in Brooklyn.
While most of us might not be heading off to Brooklyn to capture our own rainbow experience, it’s been said that guest chef Jarryd Segal will be hosting part of the brunch this weekend and might have a few on offer.
The rest of the delicious food will be create by guest chefs from JARRYDS.
Starting at 12:30, it is essential to book a table via info@cafecaprice.co.za.
