The High Tea event that took place at Kirstenbosch over the weekend resulted in some very disappointed guests. Not only was the matter unresolved during the event, but apparently the organiser’s Facebook conduct was also very poor.
Read HERE if you missed all that.
But someone was able to capture a picture of Sasha Elizabeth, the name the host of the event went by. Soretha Carrol then posted it to the event page and, wow, did all hell break loose from there.
Here’s that post:
But then one Liz Hammond had this to say, visible in that red square above:
Liz Hammond: Dear Ash Van Zyl and Shafeeqah TheNinja Isaacs; and the rest of the disgruntled patrons. The lady depicted in the image above is not Sasha Elizabeth, but Shivani Ramkalawan. It saddens me to see that she continues to defraud and lie to people outside the minuscule social circle she claims to be a part of. I have personal experience with this women and have known for her to be a pathological liar. While I am grateful for her being accountable for her actions by refunding all that had attended this festival; she has once again proven that her pride and ego has superseded her non-existent social etiquette.
We were alerted to this information by a reader, who at first sent in the below email:
One of the guests has managed to snap a photo of the organiser (who denied herself of being in charge towards guests at the event). I found the photo on Facebook (a female guest took it) and would like to submit it. The woman on this photo is the owner of the company “The Tea Princess” (theteaprincess.co.za) and sole organiser in charge of the disastrous “High Tea Festival” at Kirstenbosch.
She identified herself under the name Sasha, which is not her real name. She has claimed that she has organised and hosted many events before internationally for business and private clients. In full reality, Saturday seemed like the first event for her.
It is not clear where her ‘company’ is located. She spoke about offices in Campsbay and mentioned a ‘team’, but nobody on Saturday received payment to work there or was officially employed by the ‘company’. Also a product of her mind seems to be the charity “Teacup fund” and guests from Top Billing and a TV team who were announced to attend. She talked a lot of small company owners into donating their time and products for free, in exchange for the “prime exposure” to Cape Town’s VIP crowd and upmarket customer community. Understandably, these company owners see their brand names damaged now and have huge losses in time, money and products.
It can be thought that the organiser must have signed a venue renting contract with Kirstenbosch management, which might be the only chance to learn her true identity.
Afrihost, the registrar of her website, where she apparently registered under wrong details, has said they can reveal more as soon as the police or SAPS step forward.
Where is Miss Ramkalawan’s family? How did she finance (and organise under a false name) this massive event? Has she done this in other countries (she mentioned London and Hong Kong)? Does she intend to pay the students and artists who tried to save her back on Saturday?
We don’t have answers to those questions, so why don’t the organisers get hold of us and give us their side of events?
Our attempts to reach them have thus far proven unsuccessful, but here’s hoping we can clear up all the confusion.
There is one point of good news, though: the attendees are all being refunded by Computicket themselves.
Thanks, O.
