You remember Captain Sullenberger right, the chap who landed his plane on the Hudson River and achieved instant hero status? TV appearances, books, advertising deals – and then there’s the satisfaction of having saved 155 lives too.
Well now it’s time to prepare yourself for the chance to be revered the world over, that above instructional video on how to land a Boeing 737 coming courtesy of commercial pilot Tim Morgan. More of what he had to say from Huffington Post:
“The good news is the plane will probably have a sophisticated autopilot that can take care of most of the flying for you,” he wrote in an answer on Quora. “The bad news is you will still probably have to land it, and every aircraft cockpit is going to be different, so it’s not like you’d know exactly where to look to find the things you need”…
If this situation ever happens and you manage to safely land the plane, Morgan has one last piece of advice: “Grab a beer from the galley and enjoy the ride down the emergency evacuation slide.”
I reckon I’m going for something a little stiffer – one of these will hit the spot.
Then it’s cash in on my hero status for the rest of my days. Oh sure, like you wouldn’t too…
