Have you ever seen an advert that makes you wonder how the hell so many people signed off on the concept?
Then there’s the fact that they managed to nab Gérard Depardieu, perhaps the most famous French actor going around, who is surely not so desperate for cash that he HAD to star in this abomination of an advertisement.
He did though, and the French media have joined forces to criticise the fold of skin with a huge nose. Here’s the Telegraph:
There was general derision in French news reports on the new advert, the second one the notoriously badly behaved actor has made for the watchmaker from Russia, of which he is now a citizen.
GQ magazine sneered at what it saw as “nauseous wordplay and pathetic production quality,” while Le Figaro newspaper’s headline was “Gérard Depardieu ‘smokes deers’ in an absurd advert.”
The paper noted that Depardieu, who has irked many French with his repeated diatribes against his native country and his decision to move abroad to avoid high taxes at home, was likely to make more enemies with the Russian advert.
To prove his adoration for all things Russian Gérard will also star in a film called Stalin’s Couch where he will play the title role.
I hope they have good food over there, we know he likes to tuck in.
