As with everything, there are myths even when it comes to buying sunglasses.
For instance, did you know that UV is actually invisible? So it doesn’t actually matter how dark your shades are. There’s a difference between blocking out light and filtering out harmful UV rays.
You can have a very dark pair of cosmetic glasses, and you might feel as though there’s not much light getting in, but it’s not visible light that’s potentially dangerous, it’s UV that you want to filter out.
Basically, lighter lenses, whether they are grey, green, brown or any other colour, are just as effective, as long as there’s that UV factor..
But how do you tell whether your chosen pair of sunnies are effective in the UV protection department? Packaging.
There’s a category rating from 0 to 4, with 4 being the best. The lesser rated sunnies are those fashion spectacles, but anything from 2 upwards is okay.
Another factor to consider is that bigger actually is better. Although wrap arounds are “the best”, we know you’d rather pop over to Sunglass Hut and get a sexy pair of the latest eyewear for summer. Electrify your summer with Sunglass Hut this December.
