You’re going to be just a little disappointed…
AirlineRatings has just released its top airlines for 2016, including best low cost, best long haul and ultimate in premium experience.
The best airline in the world is Air New Zealand: An “industry trendsetter”, it has been praised for its award-winning inflight innovations, operational safety and environmental leadership. It’s the third time in a row that it has won the title and this year it also came out best in the Best Premium Economy class and Best Economy Class categories.
The second best is Australian airline Qantas, cleaning up in the Best Lounges, Best Catering and Best Domestic Service categories. As 90% of the airline’s passengers fly economy, they have doubled the size of the meals – and offers four options.
If you’re looking for a premium experience then Etihad Airways and Singapore Airlines are the way to fly.
While Abu Dhabi-based Etihad was named Best First Class, Singapore Airlines’ “subtle, elegant, functional and very cozy” Business Class stole the top in its category.
Winning in the value and safety in the Low Cost Airline sector, honours went to Virgin America (Americas), Norwegian (Europe), Kulula.com (Africa/Middle-East) and Scoot for Asia/Pacific. So yeah, there’s your BAA winner.
The long haul winners were Delta Air Lines (Americas), Lufthansa (Europe), Etihad (Middle East/Africa) and Cathay Pacific Airways for Asia/Pacific.
