It’s only 3.5mm, but the headphone port may be removed from the Apple iPhone 7 to make the phone thinner. This is according to a Japanese blog, Macotakara, who say that the headphone port is the widest external port in the iPhone and isn’t able to get any thinner.
So, to shave off another 1mm from the phone, the port will have to go.
This just means that headphones will have to connect with your phone wirelessly via Bluetooth or through a Lightning connector – the element that was introduced by the iPhone 5. External headphone manufacturers will need to supply their own Lightning cables for compatibility.
Although Lightning has some positives, it would be better to have wireless compatibility as it works with Apple’s full range of product.
