China’s air pollution levels have hit an all time high as the country enters winter. Referred to as the “Airpocalypse”, the onset of unfavourable conditions comes as an excessive amount of people burn coal to keep warm and wind speed dies down during the winter months.
The country’s most polluted city is Baoding where the smog is so thick you can see it. It burns your eyes and leaves an acrid taste in your mouth. All citizens were told to stay inside and schools had to stop any outdoor activities.
The air quality reading stood at nearly 1 000 – and according to the UN, readings over 100 are really bad.
