In this day and age you might be forgiven for thinking that there are very few secrets in Hollywood, many celebs keeping us informed as to their every movement on social media.
Well the last few days have proven that may not be the case, ‘one of Hollywood’s top megastars’ reportedly HIV positive. As of yet no one is naming who the actor is (I would assume for legal reasons, not moral) although Radar has this to say:
The middle-aged star learned at least two years ago that he had contracted HIV — but he has desperately hidden it from the world, terrified his fans will turn against him…
…the star — known for a playboy lifestyle filled with one-night stands and sex-for-hire partners — has been “devastated” over his plight since doctors diagnosed the condition, according to a friend…
The star thought he was “indestructible” and took few precautions to protect himself against AIDS — even though he was indulging in high-risk sex practices, sources said.
“He led a dangerous lifestyle,” said one pal. “He’s learned this the hardest possible way.”
A friend, a pal, a source – sounds like typical tabloid nonsense right? It doesn’t appear so, many publications with street cred running the same story. Below from the Telegraph:
A well-known Hollywood womaniser has reportedly been diagnosed with HIV, but is allegedly unwilling to publicly confirm the news for fear of law suits from a long line of women…
The paper reported “a US showbiz insider” as saying: “It has now become common knowledge that this star is HIV positive, something he has known for a number of years.
“His lawyers are bracing for the threat of potential action. The reality is that if he’s knowingly put women at risk then that’s disgusting and it’s only a matter of time before that becomes public.”
So how has this all been kept under wraps then? Radar again:
…the megastar has spent an elaborate fortune to secure the silence of his sexual partners — and others — who later discovered his HIV status.
Looks like there really is something to this story, although outing one for their HIV status does carry with it some serious ethical and legal questions.
