Friday in the 2OV office was spent with one eye on the live feed of proceedings at Union Buildings, protesting students and staff left to sit in the sweltering heat with promises of Jacob Zuma addressing the crowd.
It was sad to see that wait result in what can only be described as chaos, although reports suggest that it was a tiny minority who were making mischief.
Many have suggested that these rogues may have been sent there to disrupt and discredit the movement. This from EWN:
The Fees Must Fall students have been peaceful, they’ve been courageous and they stood their ground. It was a group of Sascoc and ANC supporters who came here, are taking mobile toilets, they’re burning them in the middle of the field, trying to intimidate everybody. And in response, the Fees Must Fall movement are saying ‘no violence’.
