They might usually play nice for the cameras, but something as simple as flicking a cap across the room can illustrate that Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg are anything but mates.
Hamilton clinched the F1 World Championship yesterday at the US Grand Prix, which to be honest was only a matter of time given his scintillating form. USA Today describes the build-up to that video as follows:
Rosberg and Hamilton are teammates and have dominated Formula 1 for the past two seasons — but the two men are fierce rivals. In Japan and again Sunday in Austin, Hamilton forced pole-sitter Rosberg off the track in the first corner and went on to win the race.
Minutes after climbing out of the cars, the three drivers that finished on the podium waited for the trophy ceremony to begin in the cool-down room, and the F1 world feed television cameras showed the eerily quiet and fascinating moments.
Hamilton embraced both Rosberg and Vettel and had an emotional moment to himself, but Rosberg was clearly and understandably upset. When Hamilton tossed his teammate a hat to wear on the podium, Rosberg immediately threw it right back.
If that’s what is going on in front of the cameras you can only imagine the lack of pleasantries behind the scenes.
Lewis Hamilton with the last laugh in this one, as has often been the case all season.
Maybe they should just play nice and each grab a ‘Make RSA Great Again‘ cap…
