The recent comments of the eco-concerned Elon Musk have suggested some things about Apple and Tesla that can only lead to assumptions of either company at this point in time. The first thing is that Apple is on its way to create a car – although there has been no comment from its CEO. And they’re taking all of Tesla’s rejects. In an interview with German newspaper Handelsblatt, Elon called Apple Tesla’s graveyard.
Important engineers? [Apple] have hired people we’ve fired.
We always jokingly call Apple the Tesla graveyard. If you don’t make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple. I’m not kidding.
Elon further went to kind of insult Apple’s current products:
Did you ever take a look at the Apple Watch? No, seriously. It’s good that Apple is moving and investing in this direction. But cars are very complex compared to phones or smartwatches.
Although Elon’s comments in the interview rocked media and questioned the two companies’ relationship with one another – some even speculating the Apple and Tesla are at war, Elon tweeted to confirm what he thought of Apple:
Yo, I don’t hate Apple. It’s a great company with a lot of talented people. I love their products and I’m glad they’re doing an EV.
And regarding the watch:
Regarding the watch, Jony & his team created a beautiful design, but the functionality isn’t compelling yet. By version 3, it will be.
It seems Elon has to clear up a lot of misunderstood interviews. At least that means we get to see him more.
