The economy sucks, the rand’s in the toilet and at the end of the month there seems to be less cash in our wallets than ever before.
But hey, we’re not the only ones you know. Currently in Europe and America, cash back and electronic coupon sites are not only the rage, they are actually cool (I know, weird, huh?). No one ever pays full price for anything and, in fact, it’s become ‘cool to be cheap’ (and not just for hipsters). So if this movement is big in the first world just why hasn’t it taken off here?
Enter SNAPnSAVE, the locally developed app that gives you cash back just for snapping a photo of your till slip.
Cash back for stuff you buy anyway
What’s the catch? There isn’t one. Buy stuff you need, snap a photo of your till slip and get cash back to spend on the stuff you really want.
“Getting cash back for your shopping has never been easier and we’ve got thousands of rands worth of offers on some of SA’s most loved brands,” says Alex Band, Head of Marketing at SNAPnSAVE.
No more cards or points. Just cash back
Wouldn’t be caught dead using a paper coupon? Have a loyalty card but don’t know what it’s for? At SNAPnSAVE all you need to do is select offers you want on the site or the app, buy items in any major retailer and then snap a photo of your till slip. It’s that easy!
You can spend your earned cash (saved in a personal SNAPnSAVE e-wallet) at retailers across SA (Dischem, Vida e Cafe, News Café, Cellucity and more).
Cash back sites fastest growing sector internationally
The launch of SNAPnSAVE comes in the wake of a surging global trend that will see over 100 million Americans redeeming digital coupons this year, and over 1 billion people globally expected to use digital coupons by 2019.
“Mobile-based coupons are part of the daily shopping habits of Europeans and Americans. Now we’re seeing this trend in emerging markets such as India and Nigeria. So, why not in South Africa? We love saving money too” says SNAPnSAVE CEO Mark Bradshaw.
Fastest growing cash back site in South Africa
“As soon as my friend told me about SNAPnSAVE, I downloaded the app. So far I’ve already received R150 back for items I’d buy anyway, and now I’m using the extra cash to buy extra little treats”, said Sue van Niekerk, a happy new user.
Cape Town based SNAPnSAVE has added some personality and fun into buying everyday items with their monthly Money Makers feature. On the last Friday of the month (coinciding with payday, gotta love it) featured products pay out more than 70% of the retail selling price. Items featured are usually based on a quirky theme and feature cheeky commentary, much like the rest of the site. Let’s face it, if you’re here reading this you like cheeky, as do we of course.
