Every secret super agent needs his own trademark set of wheels to nab the bad guys, James Bond and the 007 dynasty having long been associated with the Aston Martin DB9 GT.
Now Aston Martin are honouring that relationship (and drumming up some press) ahead of the new Spectre movie by releasing the DB9 GT Bond Edition – see what they did there?
There will be just 150 models of the collector’s item produced, celebrating a connection that stretches as far back as 1959. More from the Telegraph:
To the GT’s styling upgrades – namely carbon-fibre front splitter and rear diffuser, 20in wheels and upgraded interior – the Bond edition adds Spectre silver paint (the same shade used for the DB10), sterling silver Aston Martin badges and “007 Bond Edition” exterior badging.
Under the bonnet is the same 6.0-litre V12, tuned to deliver 540bhp and 457lb ft of torque, which will propel the DB9 from 0-62mph in 4.5sec and on to a top speed of 183mph.
The interior is home to numbered sill plaques and “gun barrel embroidery” on the rear seat divider, while the infotainment screen has a Bond-themed start-up graphic…
Sadly there is no ejector seat option, although Aston does supply buyers with a selection of Bond-themed accessories to complement the car, including a Globe-Trotter trolley case and Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra James Bond Limited Edition watch.
That’s are some pretty impressive little add-ons there for all Bond fans. The car won’t come cheap, priced at £165 000 (R3,4 million), but something tells me there are enough 007 fans the world over to see these guys sell out in no time.
