Oscar and Radovan, a love affair forged inside the Kgosi Mampuru II prison that might come back to bite Pistorius in the backside.
It has now emerged that Oscar actually had his cell raided by prison officials earlier this year, his relationship with Czech mob boss Radovan Krejcir causing the pre-dawn visit. During the raid officials seized a hard drive. The Telegraph reports:
…the raid [was] on Pistorius’ cell in the hospital wing of Kgosi Mampuru II prison in Pretoria…
“We know Oscar and Krejcir were spending a lot of time together in prison, so we wanted to get to all of those who seemed closed to Krejcir,” a senior police official told the newspaper…
Police spokesman Solomon Makgale confirmed the raid on Pistorius’ cell, but said that no evidence of any criminality had yet been found.
“There is no evidence at this stage to link Pistorius to any criminality, but we are still awaiting analysts reports about the contents of the items confiscated,” he said.
Krejcir was last week found guilty on charges of kidnapping, attempted murder and attempted drug dealing and will still face additional charges in the Johannesburg High Court. Back to the Telegraph:
Pistorius’ lawyer Bryan Webber told The Telegraph that he knew nothing about the incident and refused to comment on whether it would affect the athlete’s parole review.
A spokeswoman for the family, Annelise Burgess, said there is “absolutely no way” Pistorius would do anything that is against prison regulations.
Suppose you have to pick your friends wisely in prison these days, something Oscar would do well to remember. Fraternising with known mob bosses – probably not the best idea.
