Every now and again someone sends us a video showcasing why life down here in the Western Cape is oh so good, and today it’s the turn of Bryn North.
His latest video, titled ‘WEEKEND TRAVEL’, is a montage of a weekend spent in Wilderness. Here’s the description from his YouTube video:
When the weekend arrives there’s nothing better than packing your bags for a quick road trip to explore a bit of South Africa. Heading out from Cape Town down the Garden Route towards Wilderness, only 450km out we arrive at the Kaaimans river for a bit of fun exploring the waterways by canoe, hiking through lush forest and trekking the coastline along the old Outeniqua railway, even checking out some surfing in Vic Bay . It’s a sick little piece of paradise and I would recommend a visit!!
Amen brother, we’re big fans ourselves. A quick snoop on SafariNow at where you might want to stay whilst you’re exploring Wilderness reveals these gems – something for every budget so take a look and start planning your weekend away.
Livingstone House is a 5 Star self-catering house. It consists of a three storey villa or house with three beds and three bathrooms. The interior is upmarket and contemporary. Enjoy unspoilt, breathtaking sea and mountain views from all four private decks.
The Tops in Hunt’s Lane, nestled against the slopes of the Wilderness Heights, affords any visitor one of the most spectacular vistas in the world. It offers a view of the sparkling Indian Ocean, where the dolphins and the whales can be seen cavorting; off white, sandy shores and the Touw River Mouth with its sluggish cola-coloured waters.
The iKhaya Wilderness guesthouse is nestled along the breathtaking Garden Route. It offers visitors the opportunity to relax, unwind and become one with nature in the comfort of an elegantly furnished wooden thatched home.
Awake to the sound of breaking waves and enjoy a sundowner on the deck while you take in the magnificent views. With its understated elegance and serene surroundings, iKhaya will soon become the perfect getaway.
The backpackers lodge is set on the Touw River, overlooking the Wilderness National Park Lakes. The old Victorian homestead, built in 1874, is equipped with all of the necessary modern conveniences in a secure beautiful setting, nestled beneath a milkwood forest.
Fairy Knowe is an official Baz Bus Stop so they will drop you off at the front door.
This is country living at its most genuine: the four cottages occupy a quiet corner of an 86 hectare Toorbos farm, overlooking a large dam and some of the 60 hectares of macadamia orchards-the ideal place for family holidays.
Rest and relax on your own wooden deck, take time out on the dam for a spot of catch-and-release bass fishing, enjoy walking or mountain biking on the farm or in the surrounding forests and countryside or take a quick drive to the quiet of Wilderness’ endless, almost-deserted beaches.
Now go forth and enjoy the Garden Route in all its glory – I don’t know if your editing skills are quite on par with Bryn’s but we’re sure you could put together a mean Facebook album for your friends in Jozi to ogle at.
