Angry mother alert, this woman isn’t pulling any punches.
Tensions have escalated to dangerous levels outside Roodepoort Primary School, with at least five people injured during a violent showdown yesterday. The anger stems from the appointment of a black principal at the school, although residents say it is more to do with corruption at the school.
Tear gas and rubber bullets were fired during the angry exchange, with this below from News24:
Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi said on Friday the school would be temporarily closed after teaching has been disrupted for months following allegations of maladministration and unhappiness about the principal’s appointment.
EWN carries this:
Police tried to escort district officials off the school premises but parents blocked the way, saying they wouldn’t let them leave until the school was re-opened.
Coloured parents maintain their anger has nothing to do with race and everything to do with what they consider to be corruption at the school.
They claim the Education Department is playing the race card to hide the truth.
Whichever way you look at this mess the truth remains that it is the children who most suffer from exchanges such as these.
As for that hunting jibe no one ever said policing was easy work, here’s hoping residents and police can come to some kind of a resolution sooner rather than later.
