Simba, Mufasa and Scar have well and truly been topped as the world’s most popular lions, the slain Cecil now the talk of just about everyone around the world. That Walter Palmer chap, not so much, his business and personal life being attacked as viciously as the means by which he murdered one of Hwange National Park’s most beloved beasts.
I don’t imagine Jimmy Kimmel has spent much time in Zimbabwe but he seems to have taken the illegal hunt pretty personally. It’s worth watching the whole video above, Jimmy giving a good summation of the incident and throwing some serious barbs Palmer’s way, but if it’s tears you’re after flip through to around the four minute mark.
The good thing about a rant like this is that, other than being seen by millions around America and the world, there’s a positive message at the end. Maybe some of these Yanks that head to our shores and kill for sport might now think twice before buying that ticket.
At the very least they might consider ensuring their hunt occurs through the proper channels, not an awful professional hunter like Theo Bronkhorst with morals as scrupulous as some of our politicians. This picture below is Theo with the owner of the neighbouring farm, the ironically named Honest Ndlovu, who allowed the illegal hunt on his property.
Scum.
