You have to hand it to the Italians, when they are passionate about something they don’t exactly half-arse it now do they?

Take for example Paolo Mastrogiuseppe, the owner of the most Italian name you may ever find, who is rather passionate about the way he likes his coffee made. So are we mind you, but we tend to go for the slightly easier option.

He is also an engineering wizard with a hankering for Formula One and jet engines, so when he combined those two passions people sat up and took notice. Here’s IOL:

His latest creation, the Aviatore Veloce, is a quarter-scale military jet engine and displays the typical attention to detail for which his Formula 1 engines have become famous.

The new machine is also a perfect scaled-down rendition of the real thing, but instead of propelling aircraft, it produces coffee, tea, or boiled water.

Now we’re not going to get too technical because Mastrogiuseppe isn’t afraid of delving deep into the nitty-gritty – suffice to say he is rather proud of his latest creation. He initially began with a V12 Formula One Grand Prix engine and a prototype military jet engine, then used real aerospace alloys and materials to stay as true to the original designs as possible.

The machine now consists of around 300 different parts and is ready to be snapped up by the general public. I use that term loosely, mind you, because an Aviatore Veloce sells for between R165 000 and R270 000. If it’s just the simple Espresso Veloce engine coffee machines you’re after breathe easy, that’ll only set you back between R85 000 and R225 000.

We salute your hard work Paolo, they do sound pretty epic, but for now we might stick to grabbing a cup on the go from somewhere slightly more in our price range.
