If you’re feeling anywhere near as miserable as I am on this gloomy Monday you’ve probably also knocked back more than just a few vida‘s. Having said that, it’s almost time another espresso is thrown into my mouth hole before I break down into the foetal position and take an unauthorised nap.
We all know we have a coffee winner here at home with vida – their smiling staff that can make any grumpy gal’s frown turn upside down, delicious coffee and ever increasing variety of snacks. Let’s make this a wishful Monday then and pretend that we get to travel the world in the near future…
The Telegraph has so thoughtfully compiled a list for us of the world’s best coffee shops. We’ve selected four from their list for your viewing and procrastinating pleasure:
La Cafeotheque, Paris, France
One of the pioneers of artisan coffee in the City of Lights, La Cafeotheque is known for its carefully-selected single estate varieties. The homemade pastries are pretty good, too.
Fazıl Bey, Istanbul, Turkey
One of Istanbul’s most famous coffee stops is Fazil Bey, which has existed since the 1920s. Top-notch Brazilian beans are roasted and ground on site, then brewed in a traditonal cevze (a small copper pan with a long handle) before being served with a piece of Turkish delight. Heaven.
Coffee Academics, Hong Kong
This gorgeous, industrial-chic space is a popular haunt for Hong Kong’s coffee heads. The team there love trying out all the latest coffee equipment and techniques, and the baristas are more than happy to talk to customers through their latest concoctions.
Barista Parlor, Nashville, Tennessee, USA
Barista Parlor is a former auto garage which was converted into a sleek, airy coffee joint in 2012. The place just screams cool – its owner is best buds with Black Keys frontman Dan Auerbach, while the baristas are all clad in loally-made leather aprons and bow-ties Don’t let that put you off though – the coffee list is one of the best and most comprehensive in the area.
