So, according to the Internet, tomorrow (June 27th) is International Sunglasses Day. This should make you increasingly happy since your Friday night bender consisting of bad life choices and a concoction of strong spirits cannot simply be masked by some makeup or a Panado. You WILL need your sunnies while you bathe in your loser complex at breakfast or that braai you promised to attend. Sure does help that tomorrow is a blazing 15 degrees with some peaking sun.
Sunnies have helped us keep our poker faces strong since way back when which was, in fact, their intented use. Friday Fun Fact, as daysoftheyear likes to explain:
Although the origins of Sunglasses Day are unknown, the history of sunglasses stretches as far back as 14th century China, where judges used eyewear made of smoke-coloured quartz to mask their emotions. Fast-forward 600 years and modern sunglasses as we know them today were first marketed by entrepreneur Sam Foster on the Atlantic City Boardwalk.
Bet you didn’t know that.
Bet you also didn’t know that our favourite sunglass store, Sunglass Hut, is having a massive 50% off Looks To Love Sale, running till 5th July at V&A Waterfront.
Hows that for International Sunglasses Day? Don’t be shy, sunglasses mask the windows to the soul and that is always a good thing when you’re hanging like a dog.
