We all have those days when it seems like there is no limit to how much pizza we can shove into our gullets. Mine are usually Sundays, hungover on the couch and eating to get over the shame of the night before, but I’m sure you have your own reasons.
Italy may be the spiritual home of the pizza but now they have cemented their place in the history books by setting a new Guinness World Record for the world’s longest pizza. This from Mashable, and please excuse their awful use of the word ‘pie’ in place of pizza:
…a horde of 60 pizza makers gathered to make one colossal pie on Saturday.
They used 1.7 tons of flour, 1.5 tons of mozzarella and 2 tons of tomato sauce to make a pizza that measured 1.59545 kilometers long — just short of one mile. It was cooked using five ovens.
The pizza took 18 hours to make and and was part of the Milan Expo 2015, a platform for the exchange of ideas and shared solutions on the theme of food.
You know it looks tasty but if you prefer your slices in slightly more manageable sizes don’t be shy to try Butler’s. Given Eskom’s load shedding escalation these last few days you might just need them the next time you’re plunged into darkness.
