Chris Rock uses it, Eddie Murphy uses it, I’m guessing Dylann Roof uses it very often – now it’s time for Barack Obama to bust out the N-word on air for the first time.

Obama has previously used the word in his book Dreams from my Father, but this is the first time listeners have heard him say that out loud. Obama was appearing on the podcast ‘WTF with Marc Maron’, a show famous for the frank talk from both guests and host alike.

His most stinging criticism though was reserved for America’s outlook on gun control laws, something that has again been brought to the fore following the horrors of the Charleston church shooting. Here’s the BBC covering his statements on the same podcast:

“The grip of the NRA on Congress is extremely strong,” he said.

“I will tell you, right after Sandy Hook, Newtown, when 20 six-year-olds are gunned down, and Congress literally does nothing – yes, that’s the closest I came to feeling disgusted,” he said. “I was pretty disgusted.”

The NRA is of course the National Rifle Association, an organisation that advocates for gun rights, perhaps most famous for their then-president Charlton Heston’s statements following the Columbine school shooting in 1999. That quote below:

So, as we set out this year to defeat the divisive forces that would take freedom away, I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed, and especially for you, Mr. Gore: ‘From my cold, dead hands!

Sorry Barack, you face an uphill battle trying to get anyone to move on the gun law front, perhaps if you drop a few more N-bombs people might sit up and take notice.
