Goodness me but it was chilly this morning. Whilst I sat in my car with the heater blasting, I congratulated myself that I had booked dinner at HQ for dinner this evening. I am definitely going to arrive a few minutes early and have a glass of wine by the fireplace. And you should too. Treat yourself.
Why not try out one of HQ’s amazing FINE WINING evenings? It honestly gives us Capetonians a reason to leave the house in the middle of winter… And, this is one of my favourites – July 1st sees HQ pair up their delicious three-course menu with Warwick Estate.
The effortlessly sophisticated setting of HQ is the perfect environment to enjoy a cosy dinner with loved ones, friends or family.
You’ll start the evening with a broccoli and stilton cheese soup with a puff straw, paired with Warwick Chardonnay MCC (who doesn’t like starting the evening with a glass of bubbles?). You’ll then move onto the ever-wonderful cos and iceberg salad with toasted pine nuts, parmesan shavings and Dijon mustard dressing to start, paired with Warwick First Lady Chardonnay.
Their signature, perfectly cooked, 250g sirloin steak with Café de Paris butter sauce and skinny fries will be paired with Warwick’s First Lady Cabernet Sauvignon – that wine is one of my go-to staples, never failing at any impromptu dinner party at my house. Veggies, don’t worry, you will still be welcomed with open arms – you can feast on duxelle stuffed portobello mushrooms topped with parmesan cheese and baked.
End off the evening with a bitter chocolate and sea salt tart with Syrah berry compote, paired with Black Lady Syrah. I am about to eat my keyboard just thinking about this. Chocolate and sea salt. Best.
With each ticket costing only R300 per person, bookings are essential and can be made directly by telephone on (021) 424 6373, or alternatively via email info@hqrestaurant.co.za.
