Andy Warhol amassed quite the fortune whilst he was alive but, like many artists, it was once he passed away that the price of his artwork really went through the roof.
Having died in 1987 some of his work has since sold for astonishing prices, not least of all his ‘Silver Car Crash’ piece that fetched $105.4 million back in 2013. Keep that figure in mind when you look at his former mansion, the aptly-named ‘Eothen’ in New York’s the Hamptons, on the market for just the $85 million. Here’s BusinessInsider:
The family behind Arm & Hammer baking soda built the estate back in the ’30s as a mere fishing camp.
Pop art godfather Andy Warhol scooped the compound up in the ’70s, using it to host the likes of Jackie O. and John Lennon.
Now, for $85 million, the Montauk stunner can be yours. Douglas Elliman’s Ronald White and Paul Brennan hold the listing.
Let’s snoop then shall we?
You had to know you were getting a stable in this deal. The mansion was bought for $27 million back in 2007, with the new owners restoring the six cottages and ramping up the price more than threefold.
I guess R1.056 billion doesn’t quite get you what it used to, especially when you have a snoop around here and see the beauts on offer.
It looks lovely Andy, don’t get me wrong, but where is the firepool?
